Personal Logo Creation (40 points)

All successful businesses have a logo. When you think of popular products, you instantly recognize their logo. Whether it's the Nike swish, the Gatorade lightning bolt, or the Apple Computer apple, just by seeing the symbol, you know to which company they belong. For this project, you need to design a logo for your own name.

This is a two-part project that first requires you to design and create your own personal logo design, then create an animated logo with an introduction, in the animation program FLASH MX.

For inspiration follow this link to find examples of successful logos that are currently being used as well as past logos for some familiar companies; goodlogos.com.

Another site with logos to view is a site that sells logo-making software. Look at the examples given or make your logo on their site: LogoMaker.com.

You can either use this site to create your logo, or do it yourself on Appleworks Drawing or Painting, or FLASH

Starting Steps: Logo Portion

Take out a sheet of paper.

Brainstorm 15 words or adjectives that describe you an/or things you like.

Rough sketch some pictures that incorporate the thoughts you wrote down about yourself (brainstorming).

Narrow the ideas, elements, or thoughts down to two and circle them on your paper.

Ask yourself why are you choosing these two ideas and could they be incorporated into one logo.

Sketch out the final idea on paper.

Save all sketches; they must be turned in for 5 points of credit.

Logo Animation Portion:

By using ideas you gained by looking at existing companies and designing your own logos you are now ready to animate it. Your animation must last a minimum of ten seconds and include an introduction and an animation of your design coming together on a web page.

Elements of the project will include:

Elements on which you are graded:

What: What is your logo and how it relates to you. (Be specific & convincing)

Why: Why did you settle on this design and why is it the right design for you?

Summarize: Restate why your design describes you best.
