Formatting Exercises

Lesson 2

Go to the Shared Documents folder in your documents folder and open the folder DiLeo's Drafts. Then open the document "Formatting Lesson 2 (draft)"

Follow these directions:

  1. Select Columns (2) (hint: it's green)
  2. Go to Edit menu: select all
  3. Go to Font menu: Times
  4. Go to Edit menu: select all
  5. Go to Format Paragraph; Line spacing; 1.5
  6. Highlight Title and Author (including the paragraph mark "" after the author)
  7. Go to Edit menu: cut
  8. Go to View menu: header and footer
  9. Insert cursor in header
  10. Go to Edit menu: paste
  11. Type your name and period on the same line in the new space underneath the author's name in the header area
  12. Highlight your name and period and change the size to 9 points
  13. Highlight your name and period and change the font to Helvetica
  14. Highlight your name and period and "Align Center"
  15. Highlight Title and Author
  16. Highlight Title and Author Select "Align Center"
  17. Highlight Title and Author Go to Style menu: Bold
  18. Highlight Title and Author Go to Size menu: 18
  19. Double click on the text of the poem (the text will now be black instead of grey)
  20. Highlight entire text of poem
  21. Select "Align Center"
  22. Insert the cursor at the bottom of the first column underneath the words and add a return. (the text of the poem should line up for all paragraphs)
  23. Go to File; Save as; Save this as your last name lesson 2
